Home to 28  independently-owned merchant businesses, The SF Market is the region’s  destination for the widest selection of fresh produce. The SF  Market’s  critical food infrastructure connects urban and rural food economies, moving hundreds of thousands of pounds of produce each day.  The only non-profit produce market of its scale, The SF Market is  uniquely positioned to grow impact across the food system, from  expanding opportunities for farmers to improving food access for our neighbors here in the Bay Area. Market  merchants lease space on The SF Market to be a part of the vibrant  ecosystem of food business on the Market all in one convenient San Francisco location. 

Over 1,000 workers see the  sun rise each morning at our Bayview-Hunter’s Point 23-acre campus  dedicated to food infrastructure. A designated legacy business and a  true San Francisco institution, The SF Market opened in 1963 with a 50-year ground lease from the City of San Francisco. In  2013, The SF Market renewed their partnership with the city under a new  60-year lease. In 2015 the Market launched a major reinvestment project  to improve and sustain existing infrastructure for our merchant tenants. Through the successful implementation of this Reinvestment Project, the  expansion of our community programs, and the continued support of our Market Merchants, The SF Market envisions a vibrant, thriving and  sustainable food system that will feed our region for years to come.
